Our garfish are caught in the Cantabrian Sea off the north coast of Spain in the Fall and Winter. They’re small fish similar in size to a sardine, with a rich, meaty flavor similar to mackerel. Also known as needlefish for their long, narrow beaks, they’re slim with beautiful stripes down their backs, and make an elegant impression upon opening-- perfect for serving in the tin at a cocktail party.

  • Shelf stable at room temperature and ready to eat. 5 year shelf life.

Sourcing & Sustainability

  • Wild caught with the purse seine method in the Cantabrian Sea,  a sustainable method for these type of schooling fish
  • Harvested from October - May
  • Processed and packed by hand
  • Steam cooked prior to canning with Spanish olive oil & salt
  • Canned by a multi-generational, family owned cannery in Bermeo, Spain
  • We’re committed to minimal packaging, hence using labels directly on our tins instead of wasteful cardboard boxes. Our tins are fully recyclable and BPA free.

How We Eat It

  • Simply dress on a plate with lemon, olive oil and fresh herbs
  • On toasts slathered with aioli and a crisp basque pepper
  • Right out of the tin with a sleeve of ritz crackers
